Chase D. Slaughter. A young man that was born and raised in Union, MS, where living a dream could easily be blinded by the lack of motivation of a small town and the comfortability of living the day to day grind with those you grew up with. People in Union saw no progression, they saw no hope; they lived for the next high. Living in Union as a teenager, you didn’t get to see a lot of positive things or people that were striving to make the city better. I come from a place where if you have a strong family background, you still might not have a chance at living the dream you have always dreamed about because, in the end, it’s up the individual to CHASE the life you want. People in this area ran to the city of Newton and Philadelphia because what you couldn’t get into Union you could get in Philadelphia, illegal or not. I was fortunate enough to be able to be transparent with both sides. I rocked with the ones who were making that easy money, but I always knew there was more for me, they never showed me anything I wanted to see. If you were able to make it out of the Union, your parents were “somebody” and they instilled important values in their children.
Even as a child, I have always wanted to travel the world and see what was out there and to share the things I have seen and experiences with my home team. Through my college days, I got a chance to meet a lot of people, but I was able to obtain my associate’s and bachelor’s degree. Through this time, I also made the decision to join the military and through meeting more diverse people, I was able to understand who I was. With that opportunity, I was able to expand my mind and began my journey traveling the world from Florida to Texas, California, Indiana, North Carolina, New York, Baltimore, Chicago, Missouri, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Tennessee Vegas, Ireland, Romania, and Qatar. Through all the traveling, I saw some of my people in all areas doing big things and I always wondered why my people living life to the fullest in were these areas but not so much in my home state.
Having talked with my Dad, I use to express how I wanted to change the way people think and provide them with something that we both could benefit from. My Dad always said, “Son, you must find what the people need and provide them with that want.” One night, while reflecting on what my Dad said and my Mom’s words of, “If you see something that you want, get it.” You only get one life.” I knew then that everybody has had that one thing that they wanted whether it was love, wealth, and etc. and they either chased it or not. So I thought about my name. Everybody has a dream and it’s never too late to CHASE that dream. And that’s how CHASE it DREAMS evolved.
“Life ain’t nothing but a game, It just depends on who can play it better..”
My Dad always told me to never be the first to speak when you first walk in a room of people. Get the feel of people before you let people know who you really are.
